The Sarah Landry Series : Part. 3

Desperate to Be Devi

Becoming Initiated as a Rudrakanya

A fundamental aspect of the agenda of Sarah Landry is to be worshiped and revered as a newfound Christian goddess. The lineage of Rudrakanyas is exactly what Christianity is missing: a dedicated and empowered role for women. In the Rudrakanya Sampradaya, these women fulfilled the role of priestesses.

According to the Hindu scriptures, Rudrakanyas are ordained to be priests in the temple and have are treated as equal to the Shivacharyas, or the main priests of the temple. They are trained in rituals, administration and anything related to running of the temples. They will be highly adept in the mystical and spiritual sciences of Hinduism because of their vital role in running the temple based civilization. Rudrakanyas were powerful power manifestor, administrators and artists.

During her time in the aadheenam, Sarah Landry was initiated into the lineage of Rudrakanyas, which HDH is reviving. Sarah was continuously enthusiastic about the projects associated with this particularly.

She started learning rituals in the temple but other young women who were around her noted her complete disregard and disrespect for the Hindu deities.

After her departure from the aadheenam in Bengaluru, she did not leave behind her affinity for the traditional jewelry and decoration of Hinduism, which she learned and picked up from the Adi Shaivite Minority Tradition.

As she herself stated that she always wanted to be  a priestess, she will steal the role of a priestess too and implement this in her religion she is creating following her.
